Resolve Your Family Law Matter Today!
Mediation is the quickest and most cost-effective way to reach an agreement in a family law matter.
A skilled and experienced Mediator will be able to help you and your ex-partner address issues causing conflict and come up with an agreement that suits both of you and any children involved. A key aim of mediation is to resolve issues and avoid a protracted and costly case in court.
Why Mediation Works
The goal of mediation is to help the parties resolve their dispute in a way that is fair, efficient, and cost-effective. Mediation is often a preferred alternative to litigation, as it allows the parties to maintain more control over the outcome of the dispute and can help preserve relationships.
More Cost Effective
Mediation is far more cost effective than going to court because it only involves the Mediator and the parties in conflict. The process generally takes significantly less time, so there is less expense. Court is expensive. Court costs can end up escalating above $100,000 for each side by the time your matter reaches a trial.
Faster Results
Mediation can achieve results quickly. Going to court can be a time consuming, protracted process. Most mediation cases can be settled within 30 days of initiating the process.
Mediation resolves your issues much quicker than through the family law courts. The delays in the family court system are significant, with some matters taking years before reaching a trial.
Less Stress & Conflict
Mediation is far less formal and intimidating than going to court. The mediation session will be done in private, sometimes with both parties in the same room, but often with each person in separate rooms.
The mediator will guide the couple through the day, helping them address any areas of conflict.
You Decide
In mediation, a solution is found through consensual discussion, so is more likely to suit both parties. In a court case, an outcome is imposed on both parties.
Mediation on the other hand allows parties to control the outcome and try to find a win/win solution. A successful mediation will result in an agreement that everyone can live with and an outcome you have control over.
Private & Informal
Mediation is done away from the courts (and the public) at a suitable location to all parties. Information discussed during mediation cannot be used as evidence in a trial or judicial process.
Mediation is private and confidential meaning you can feel comfortable that everything discussed in the mediation remains confidential and cannot be discussed with other people or used against you in court, if an agreement is not reached.
Relationships Maintained
If agreement is reached through consensual discussion it is a far less taxing process than going to trial in a court. There’s more potential to maintain the relationship post mediation, which is obviously better for any children involved.
If both parties can live with the result and feel they had control over the decision, it becomes easier to accept and the agreement is more likely to be followed by the parties. This decreases the risk of further issues arising down the track.
